ERASMUS programme

The Erasmus program has as its main objective to enrich the European dimension in higher education. It fosters the mobility of students and teachers within the European Union, through bilateral agreements between university institutions.

This mobility program has lived through several stages. In its origins, it was launched through the PIC (Interuniversity Programs of Cooperation). Later, Erasmus was part of the Socrates Program (1997/98 -2006/07). Currently, this type of European mobility enters a new phase, joining the Permanent Learning Program (Lifelong Learning Program, 2007/08 - 2012/13) and supporting the construction of the European Space for Education Superior

The objectives of the Erasmus program are the following:

Allow students to educate, linguistically and culturally, on the learning experience in other European countries.
To foster cooperation between institutions and enrich the educational environment of the collecting institutions.
Contribute to the creation of a community of young and future well-qualified professionals, with open minds and with international experience.
To facilitate the transparency of credits and the academic recognition of the stays abroad, through the ECTS system.
